Master theses
Molecular Targets Lab - Verena M. Dirsch
The following thesis projects are preferably offered at the beginning of each semester, however, starting a project during the semester may also be possible. The duration of each thesis is 4-6 months, and applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
The working language is primarily English, and the theses are expected to be written in English. After consultation with the respective supervisor(s) or mentor(s), theses may also be written in German.
If you are interested in one of the projects, please contact verena.dirsch@univie.ac.at or the contact person listed below. In the email, please specify which project you are interested in.
A major part of the master’s thesis involves working under sterile conditions in our cell culture laboratory. Students typically receive hands-on training in a range of cell- and molecular biological techniques, including luciferase reporter assays, qPCR, Western blotting, flow cytometry, and cell viability assays. In addition to practical laboratory skills, we place strong emphasis on teaching students how to analyse and interpret their experimental data. Students are also trained to effectively present their results, discuss their findings, and scientifically defend their project and conclusions.
